As long as I can remember I was a collector. It started with Star Wars action figures, then GI Joe stuff. Then I became fascinated with trading cards, then shoes. People are collectors and naturally love to keep and hold onto things. One popular and financially rewarding hobby is collection bullion and gold coins. People collect bullion for their own reasons, just as with any type of coin. I personally find them some of the most beautiful coins.
They often have different designs each year. The look of gold, silver, and platinum have their own special appeal. They are reasonably priced (some as little as $20), so you can afford to add new coins to your collection occasionally. The perceived value can be higher than the actual value -- how many people know you can buy a gold coin for less then US$100? Finally, with the value based much more on the content of the metal rather than the scarcity of the coin, they can be a great value. The low mintages also can be very appealing -- Mintages under 10,000 are not uncommon, and most bullion coins have a mintage of less than 100,000. The low mintages have the added benefit of built-in rarity and exclusivity. That protects the value of your investment.
Another hidden advantage of bullion is that it can act as a hedge against the falling dollar and the falling housing market. And since the weight is more important than the dollar amount purchasing gold bullion bars and coins can be very appealing. One very popular bullion coin is the American eagle. Also extremely popular is the American Buffalo coin. Both come in gold.
Today's coin collector has a myriad of choices for buying bullion. A great source for bullion from all over the word is the world bullion shop found at worldbullionshop.com.They carry bullion and other rare precious coins from around the world. Some dating back to ancient times! Visit the world bullion shop for more information on precious coins.
